OSD Foundation

The Oklahoma School for the Deaf supports students, schools, and families from across the state who are deaf or hard of hearing. Last year the school served over 500 students from roughly 145 school districts in 58 counties. The school also provides community outreach by way of training and ASL classes. FAQ

  • Will the class be live and interactive?

    No, the classes will not be live and interactive. The lessons are all pre-recorded so you can watch them at your convenience.

  • How long is the class course?

    Each class (ASL I and ASL II) is 8 lessons. The lessons are self-paced. Once you complete one the next one becomes available to you.

  • How long will I have access to the videos?

    Lessons are available until June 30th, 2024

  • Who can attend the online class?

    Anyone can attend these classes. Classes are geared for all ages, however, we do suggest an adult take the course with children under the age of 13 to help guide them through and keep their attention. Plus, it is much more fun to learn as a group!

  • Are these courses considered as high school or college credits?

    No. These classes are non-credit level courses. They are simply community classes in basic conversational American Sign Language.

  • Can this course be used for professional development/continuing education hours?

    No. These classes are non-credit level courses and do not count towards professional development/continuing education hours.

  • How much does each course cost?

    Classes are free for everyone. However, we ask that you consider making a donation to the OSD Foundation. You can do so by visiting www.osdfoundation.net or by clicking on the ‘Donate Now!’ button at the top of the page.

  • How can I receive a certificate?

    You will receive a certificate of attendance for this course upon completion of all 8 lessons and quizzes. Keep in mind, that this certificate does not qualify/certify you to be an interpreter, teach ASL, or earn professional development/continuing education hours.
